A massive bomb exploded onto the gaming community late last night, as religious gamers were sent into a cheerful frenzy of sorts. EA games (Electronic Arts) officially announced the new sequel to their Need for Speed racing series – it is named NFS: Undercover.
This sequel features the ubiquitous police cars, adrenaline fuelled chases and the familiar police radio chatter, gloriously bringing the NFS series back to its roots.
This is a breath of fresh air after the last two titles from Need for speed – NFS: Carbon and NFS: Pro Street were epic critical and commercial disasters. NFS: Underground and NFS: Most Wanted would be the likely titles EA would amalgamate to produce the newest offspring, Undercover.
NFS: Undercover will be the twelfth installment of the NFS series and is set in a virtual location Tri-City Bay Area that includes three cities – Palm Harbor, Port Crescent and Sunset Hills. EA has also roped in international movie star (and a spectacularly pretty female) Maggie Q to play one of the lead characters in the game.
The script of Undercover features a large embedded narrative and has reportedly been inspired from the Hollywood blockbuster ‘The Transporter’. Only time will tell if this game would oust current racing king ‘Race Driver Grid’.
NFS: Undercover will be available on PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii. It releases on November 18th. Good luck waiting.
